Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam ‘s multi-starrer ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’ is undoubtedly one of the greatest films of 2018. The plot has four male leads Aravind Swami, Simbu, Arun Vijay play brothers who fight for the power and wealth of their father while Vijay Sethupathi plays a cop who also happens to be Aravind Swami’s friend.

The film went on to be a massive success at the box office and Now the news about the director’s next is doing rounds and it is reported that National Award Winning Writer, Producer, Distributor and Filmmaker Dhananjayan has taken to Twitter to announce that ‘Ponniyan Selvan’ the historical Tamil novel written by Kalki will be made into a feature film by Mani Ratnam.

Many actors and directors from MGR to Mani Ratnam wanted to make a film out of the novel but due to budget constraints and other reasons, the project was shelved. Now after all these years director Mani Ratnam has again taken up the project.

Like his previous project, this project might also be a multi-star cast with actors like Vikram, Simbu, Vijay Sethupathi and Jayam Ravi might be roped in to play the lead. The project is likely to go on floors in the first half of next year. However, an official confirmation is yet to be made by the director.
