Who is Dhanush? No, let’s rephrase that question. What is Dhanush? An acting machine? A person who against all odds broke the myths of the industry to be where he is? From our ‘local payyan’ image to now the lead role in an international film- his growth never fails to mesmerise us.

We’ve seen him in his earlier avatars, in ‘Thulluvadho Ilamai’, ‘Kadhal Kondein’ to his present day portfolio. His choice in experimentative and quality films hasn’t wavered at all. But surprisingly his commercial value as a star with a huge fan followiing is on an ever perpetual rise.

After a slew of films that didn’t work out, he came out as an underworld gangster portrayed brilliantly in his brother Selvaraghavan’s ‘Pudhupettai’. His acting was taken note of. However it was after the release of ‘Aadukalam’, the man became a rightful star. With the film bagging several awards at the National Awards for film, Dhanush too went home with the award for the best actor.

From then onwards, it has been a roller-coaster rode for the talented chap. His advent into writing came with Kolaveri Di which became viral globally. His multi-facedted skills began much more prominent in the following projects as well. He shone in Kollywood, then stepped into Bollywood, now he’s going for the stars with his Hollywood venture.

His most awaited future projects include ‘Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta’ directed by Gautham Menon, ‘Maari 2’ directed by Balaji Sakthivel and of course his international outing in ‘The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir’.

If one thing that fans and everyone could learn from Dhanush is is perseverance, hard work and vision. He has been an inspiration to all those VIPs out there a well. Can we ask any more of him? Don’t worry- he has a knack of surprising us every time! Happy birthday Dhanush!
