Earlier this week it was announced that Suriya had begun dubbing for the film. It was reported recently that Suriya had started dubbing for his first film with Selvaraghavan titled NGK –  Nandha Gopala Krishnan.

A few days ago, producer SR Prabhu announced that he will reveal the release date within a week. And today the makers have announced that the film is all set to hit the screens on May 31. Producer SR Prabhu took to Twitter to share the news with the fans.

Touted to be a political thriller in March last year the makers unveiled the title with the first look poster. Featured in the form of wall graffiti, Suriya resembled widely popular leader and revolutionist Che Guevara.

It was revealed that the project won’t be a simple film and that it requires a lot of research. Despite rumours doing the rounds that the film could be a revived version of Selvaraghavan’s Kaan, which was launched in 2016 and dropped subsequently. However, sources close to the makers have rubbished the reports and clarified that the team is working on a fresh subject.

The film, which was officially launched in February 2018 was slated to release for Deepavali last year and was set to lock horns with Vijay’s Sarkar at the box-office. But the shoot was delayed owing to Selvaraghavan’s health.

The film marks the first time corroboration of the duo and Selvaraghavan, in an interview last year, revealed that he had plans to work with Suriya soon after Kadhal Kondein, and the dream has been finally fulfilled after a decade.

Touted to be a socio-political drama the film stars Rakul Preet Singh and Sai Pallavi in lead roles. The film also stars Jagapathi Babu, Ilavarasu and Ramkumar Ganesan in supporting roles. With Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music, it is being produced by Dream Warrior Pictures.
