The trailer of Jiiva‘s Gorilla is out. And going by the trailer, it seems like it is a fun film, which involves a bank robbery. Of course, how can you miss seeing a chimpanzee in the film. Directed by Don Sandy, the film has Jiiva, Shalini Pandey, Sathish, Vivek Prasanna, Yogi Babu and Motta Rajendran in the lead.

When we spoke to the director regarding the film’s script, he mentioned that this one will be a comic caper. “We have had scenes in Tamil cinema about bank robbery. But no Tamil film has explored the idea in full-length like the ones we have seen in Hollywood films. so, this film will be an out-and-out comedy where the lead cast head to a bank to loot. They all have a small flashback as to why they are doing it, too. It will be an interesting subject for Tamil audiences,” said Don Sandy.

Though the film is titled Gorilla, the movie features a chimpanzee as one of its lead. It seems that the director happened to watch a couple of documentaries of the same and got inspired to feature one for the film. “The chimpanzee, named Kong, is from the world-renowned Samut Training Station in Thailand. This place boasts training animals for Hollywood films like Hangover 2 and Planet of The Apes. We went to Thailand, sought permission and got all the paperwork done before we began out shoot. Of course, it is different to shoot with an animal, but we waited patiently to get the shots. There was a trainer with us during the shoot. The sequences involving the chimpanzee were shot in Thailand. The rest of the portions were shot in Chennai,” he mentioned.
