Jiiva is being considered to play the role of Krishnamachari Srikkanth in Hindi film titled 83, which will be directed by Kabir Khan. Jiiva’s form has been questionable in the last couple of years. It has been over four years since he churned out a super hit film even though he has been continuously working in films. It looks like the actor has now gotten a golden opportunity.

The talented actor might make his Bollywood debut with director Kabir Khan’s 83, which has Ranveer Singh playing the lead role. Ranveer will reprise Kapil Dev (former captain of Team India) in the flick.The film will chronicle the events that led India to win the Cricket World Cup in 1983.

A report published in an English daily suggests that Kabir Khan was particular in roping in a Tamil actor to play cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth (Indian player who represented Tamil Nadu) in the movie. It is also said that the actor signed the movie, way back in October 2018.

“The film’s director Kabir Khan was clear that he wanted to cast a Tamil actor for the role of Krishnamachari Srikkanth. He was looking for an actor who is young and talented and eventually found that in actor Jiiva. When he approached the actor for the part in October, Jiiva came on board instantly,” a source told the daily.

It is revealed that Jiiva has started training under Srikkanth and has dedicated two hours every day to practice cricket. He might join the shooting of 83 sometime in March, after completing his training in February.

Reports are rife that Vijay Deverakonda, Allu Arjun and a few more actors are part of the film. Reliance Entertainment, Phantom Films and Vibri Media are jointly funding this big-budget film.
