Vijay is one of the most commercially successful actor in the South Indian film industry who has the maximum number of 100 crore INR plus hits after superstar Rajinikanth.  Vijay, in his illustrious career has won several awards including two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, nine Vijay Awards, one SIIMA Awards and three Edison Awards.

Vijay starts act from very early age, he made his debut film as vetri(1984). The actor who was launched by his father made his debut in a lead role with Naalaiya Theerpu in 1992. Although the actor worked only in films that were directed by his father for the first three years, eventually with the rise of his stardom, he has worked with almost all the acclaimed directors in Tamil cinema. Some of the biggest box-office hits of his career include Ghilli (2004), Pokkiri (2007), Thuppakki (2012), and Kaththi (2014).

Early Life

Vijay was born in a Roman Catholic family on the 22nd June, 1974 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His father S. A. Chandrasekhar is a renowned film director, and his mother Shoba Chandrasekhar is a playback singer and Carnatic vocalist. The actor finished the schooling in Balalok Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Virugambakkam and later obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Communication from Loyola College, Chennai.

Murugadoss went onto gross 100 crore INR at the box office.

In 2014, Vijay again collaborated with director A. R. Murugadoss for the action-drama film Kaththi and gives highest crossing Tamil film of the year. In 2016, Theri Film with director Atlee . In 2017, also again collaborated with director Atlee made action film Mersal.
